Queenstown parkrun – Event number 116 – 20th February 2021

Queenstown parkrun
Event number 116
20th February 2021

This week 57 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 17 were first timers and 6 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 7 different clubs took part.

Our guest Run Reporter today is Geoff McMillan, parkrun Event Ambassador for the South Island!
Today was the third day of my mini Southern tour.
Caren and I drove from Bannockburn to Queenstown in order to participate in our favourite Saturday morning activity - parkrun. We could have done with leaving even 5 minutes earlier as we arrived with the “gun” going off just as Caren joined the group - I had cleverly driven through in my jandals so still had sock and shoes to put on.

All that being said, what a glorious way to start each and every weekend and both Caren (150) and I (222) were celebrating arbitrary personal milestones. Totally fantastic to see 6 "Brand New, Never Done It Before" parkrunners out there today, also 11 First Time Visitors to picturesque Queenstown parkrun. Another 6 parkrunners picked up those very important letters of PB today - well done.

Must mention Paul Hewitson completed his 5th at Queenstown today, only 3 more before Paul notches up 300 parkruns!

Big shout out to Wendy and her brilliant 12 strong team of Volunteers and also to Yonder, the cafe that invites you to “come as you are”.

It was only my second visit to Queenstown parkrun, but as with the first, it was a welcoming fun experience (although I think that Marcia and Aria Ferguson had the most fun of all.

Great work everyone!

Cheers,
Geoff & Caren

Jamie and I(Chris) wish you all a Meri Kirihimete!
