Event number 139
7th August 2021
This week 47 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 13 were first timers and 7 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 4 different clubs took part. We had visitors from across New Zealand and from Queensland, Australia.
The forecasted winter blast of weather held off on Saturday and gave our parkrunners great conditions albeit a tad breezy on the bayside. We celebrated local parkrunner Janet Beale's 50th parkrun on the day of her 51st event. Janet thought she had a few more parkruns before the milestone so we made sure to celebrate it today. 48 of Janet's 50 parkruns have been here at Queenstown! Well done Janet and onward to 100! Also, we celebrated the arbitrary(but still amazing) 200th parkrun milestone of David Brockway. Originally from the UK, David has visited an incredible 115 different parkrun locations across three different countries! Only 50 more to go until the big 250 for David!
Local legend Seamus Costello added another first finish to his tally today and has now gone level with Jack McKay for the most male first finishes at 13. Seamus crossed the line at 19:28 with David Brockway chasing him in at 19:36. David earned himself a new PB to go along with his 200th milestone. Rounding out the top three today was local parkrunner Tristan Millen at 19:46.
Visiting parkrunner from Auckland, Krystyna Knight was the first female across the line in a time of 21:34. She was followed in by Bronagh Hennessy at a time of 23:09. Fiona Davies was third female today at 25:03.
We need HEAPS of volunteers in the coming weeks, so if you can please help out let us know on Facebook or email us to firstname.lastname@example.org.
