Queenstown parkrun – Event number 121 – 2nd April 2021

Queenstown parkrun
Event number 121
3rd April 2021

This week 69 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 18 were first timers and 10 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 5 different clubs took part. We had visitors from Balclutha, Dunedin, Wellington, Christchurch, Auckland, and Invercargill.

It was a dark and chilly morning for our final 8am start of the season.  Daylight savings time brings with it a 9am start time throughout the winter months and that wee bit of extra sleep before parkrun time here in Queenstown.  Today was our annual Easter themed event and we were thrilled to see lots of bunny ears and hats with our volunteers and parkrunners today.

Visiting parkrunner from Dunedin, Leon Miyahara, completed his second event here in Queenstown making quick work of the course at 17:44.  The junior parkrunner earned himself a PB with his first place finish today.  Invercargill parkrunner Aidan Mcara was second across the line and also earned himself a new PB shaving 14 seconds off his time with 18:14.  Rounding out the top three today was newly local parkrunner Luke Hammington who in his second ever parkrun bested his previous effort with a time of 19:06.

Local parkrunner Dahna Hunter brought her child and racing pram this week and made it two from two weeks in the first female title.  She crossed the line at 22:32 for her 8th time in the top spot making her the leader for first female finishes at Queenstown parkrun.  Visiting parkrunner Cristina Hatton logged her first parkrun in almost four years today coming in second female with a time of 25:00.  Hagley parkrun local Margy Gilpin completed her 51st parkrun today as third female at 25:30.

REMINDER! WE START AT 9AM NEXT WEEKEND ON 10TH APRIL!!!
