Queenstown parkrun – Event number 99 – 17th October 2020

Queenstown parkrun
Event number 99 - Full Seamus Edition
17th October 2020

This week 60 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 12 were first timers and 14 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 4 different clubs took part. We had visitors from Invercargill, Dunedin, Hawkes Bay, Whangarei, Lower Hutt, Christchurch, and Auckland!

An overcast and cooler morning greeted our parkrunners this morning for our third event since the latest resumption.  Today was a milestone day for one of our fave local Queenstown parkrunners, Seamus Costello.  Seamus completed his 50th parkrun today and making it more remarkable is that he is the first person to complete this milestone solely running at Queenstown parkrun.  In honour of Seamus many of the locals wore red not only for the colour of the parkrun 50 milestone shirt, but for his trademark red singlet that he wears in any weather condition.  it was declared that wearing a singlet(preferably red) in cold winter conditions at Queenstown will from this point forward be known as going, "Full Seamus".

Topping off the 50 milestone day for Seamus, he was first across the line today with a time of 19:07.  Local runner Ben Cullen completed his 12th Queenstown parkrun today following Seamus in with a time 19:11.  Returning to Queenstown parkrun today for his 10th event was Zac Brazel who came in at 19:18.

Junior parkrunner Sienna Mackley was the first female across today with a time of 20:41.  She earned herself a new PB by 33 seconds for her efforts today.  Local runner Dahna Hunter powered to a new PB of 22:22 whilst pushing her pram for second across. Monday Runday club member Jessica Rathgen rounded out the top three ladies and also earned a new PB of 23:43.

Upcoming events are the 100th edition of Queenstown parkrun on 24th November and the Halloween edition of 31st October! Be sure to come in your most spooky or funny active wear and beware of what might be waiting for your in Queenstown Gardens!! Lollies at the finish line for those who survive the haunted forest!!
