Lower Hutt parkrun 423 – 25 July 2020

Kia ora parkrunners,

We’ve made it through July, four weekends back parkrunning in New Zealand. I did wonder if there would be a smaller turnout this week given it was a mere 4 degrees at 8am, yet we still pulled together a crowd of 223 keen, or not-so-keen-but-too-committed-to-miss-a-week participants to see out the last parkrun of the month. I had signed up to write the run report, and encouraged some friends and First Timers to come along so there was no sleeping in for me. We all agreed that we’ll take the cold if it means we can keep these calm wind-free Saturdays we’ve been having!

Before we get into the notable achievements of the week, let’s thank the volunteers for doing their bit to make the event happen:
Hailey BOUWMAN, Miringa BOUWMAN, Maria Jessa DE ASIS, Jonathan EWEG, Julia GORDON, Paul GORDON, Samuel HALL, Allan HARTLEY, Ann KING, Mark MALONE, Emily MUSSON, Ian SIMS, Walter SOMERVILLE, and Don STEVENS.

We had a couple of significant milestones with Tom BENNION on 100 and Simon REA on 300 parkruns! Well done to you both.  I’ll also mention Daniel RUSS who came two seconds shy of a PB on his 298th run - looking promising for 300!

Congratulations to all those who achieved Lower Hutt parkrun PBs:
Daniel ABEL, Sean PHEGAN, Mark MORRISS, Leo STOTHART, Ben WILLIAMS, Naiah LEALUGA, Jim VAN LEUVEN, Bec EDWARDS, Harrison SWALLOW, Marie OLESOVSKA, Evan WELLS, Steve BIDDLE, Lexi FALCONER, Natalie JAMES, Lisa CULLEN, Chris BOORMAN, Tracie HEALY, Carolyn VAN LEUVEN, Matthew THORNTON, Joel MILLER, Michael WALTON, Tbaba LIU, Olivia WILLIAMS, Sarah MCLEOD, Charlotte LEALUGA, Elliot MCLEOD, Leigh Anne JUPP, Cameron BEALING, Susan HAYNES, and Sarah JANTSCHER.

We welcomed the following 8 First Time parkrunners and 3 First Time visitors who we hope to see again:

Alex WILLIAMS, Eli SOUTHWARD-ELLIS, Andrew MARR, Christin BENTLEY, Graham HAMILL, Michelle HOLLMANN, Helena HAMILL, Kate LANGMUIR, Alex DISHER, Olivia DISHER, and Stephanie THOMPSON.

Samuel Hall captured great snaps of parkrunners and accompanying dogs this week, my personal favourite being this one:
