Event 213 9 March 2019

Some slight drizzle didn’t deter a good turn out to today’s Parkrun. The track held up really well after Friday’s rain with only the odd puddle to run through if you wanted too, rather than running on the edge of the track.

There were a couple of new runners today and one international runner from Perth. I hope you all enjoyed your run on the Kapiti parkrun course and hope to see you back again.

Congratulations to Sharon for her milestone of completing 100 Parkrun's today. What an achievement. Sure the next 100 will be a walk/run in the park…

Also a big Happy Birthday was sung to Jude who was celebrating her Birthday today. Happy Birthday Jude and thanks for all your help from all of us runners, walkers and volunteers.

Now in to the results,

There was some quick times out there today, out front Liam and Alvrig were out of the blocks quickly and just kept on going. Both achieved PB’s today with Liam coming in at 17:52 and Alvrig at 18:00. Fantastic effort and I am sure there is some more PB’s to come from these two.

First woman across the line with Lucy Lawless in a time of 20:34 not too far off her PB, second was Cath Braddock in 21:26 which was very close to a PB as well and third Carolyn Marshall in 22:19. Some great running by all 3 and some great times.

There were a number of runners and walkers who achieved PB’s today, well done.

Big shout out also to the volunteers today as well. Remember to put your name down to help out if you can as Andy said a couple times a year is all it takes.

For all those doing Park to Path tomorrow good luck and if you a keen to tackle another 5 km event before next weeks parkrun there is the local 5 km run starting from Boundary in Raumati on Monday night at 6pm.

Take care till next week

Sam Yeoman
