Kapiti Coast parkrun
4th November 2017

After a good run of dry conditions, a mildly damp track greeted the 71 runners for the 141st Kapiti Coast parkrun. Our man Andy was back to lead the troops after his Palmerston North sojourn last week. A credible 32.59 if I'm reading the results correctly. A very nice run apparently up and down the river on a good quality track. 217 people turned and Kapiti Coast's very own Lucy Lawlor was the first female home.

Congrats to James Brader and Jill Burns who knocked up 100 and 50 run milestones this week. Quite an achievement.

First female home today was Hannah Buglass-Deveux in an impressive 21:40. And streaking out ahead (not literally!) of the male runners was Sam Yeoman in an equally impressive 19.29.

Lots of PBs again this week.

Well done to Zane Wakeling, Gareth Thomas, Archie Chambers, Kara Leigh, Hugo Harper, Sharon Hurman, Grace Hutton, Stephen Chambers and Ria Waikerepuru. Most of you are under 14, so I think us oldies need to pull finger and record some PBs next week.

Hello to Andrew Ross, Paul Brosnahan who joined the parkrun family this week with their first Kapiti parkruns. And a welcome back to Marcelo Amaya. Pretty much every time I've run with Marcelo he's hovered just behind me for most of the run, before sprinting past as we come through the gate. Returning after 6 months he did exactly the same to me again today.

And the last word goes to my daughter who at the finish line asked her 'on the verge of passing out' Dad, "why did you let that man pass you, daddy?". She can push herself next week!

See you next time
