Kapiti Coast parkrun
14th October 2017

lightly sticky ground, not unlike coalition negotiations, greeted our 63 hardy souls this morning. The mercury is rising though as we close in on summer and yesterday's rain had cleared to leave otherwise pleasant running conditions.

The mud and puddles meant personal bests were hard to come by, but congratulations to Gene Bromley and Amy Jones who eclipsed their previous bests. First male home was Geoff Ferry in an impressive time of 18:12 (even more impressive is his PB of 16:55). First female home was Kate Jenkins in an equally impressive time of 23:13. Strong running also by Mancamp Kapiti who was clearly less concerned about snipers in the trees today having ditched his bullet-proof vest.

Nice running by Matt Burden, Dave Thorburn, Craig Ironside, Gerrie Grayling, Sharon Hurman and Caitlin McDonnell who all ran close to their personal bests. Hopefully drier conditions next week will enable you to beat your marks. Which reminds me - next week is the first Palmeston North parkrun. There was talk of empty spaces in people's cars if you want transport up there. Probably best to post on the kapiti park run facebook page if you are interested in car pooling.

Big ups to the guy pushing a double stroller. I know how hard pushing a single stroller is so top marks to you and take 3 minutes off your time.

Did I mention that it is Harley's birthday. 40 years old. That's the BIG 40! He should become faster now he is over the hill.

Don't forget to stick your hand up for volunteering tasks. There's circa 10 roles each week, so we rely on a steady stream of volunteers to make kapiti parkrun happen.

Regardless of whether it's blue/black, red/green/black or teal we'll be back next week!

This week 63 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 0 were first timers and 2 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 4 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 9 volunteers:
