I was a bit nervous early this morning listening to the hail thinking about what it will be like at parkrun, but thankfully the weather was kind to us, and the sun even made an appearance. There were 76 park runners, walkers, and joggers who made their way around the course today, seven were first timers to Invercargill parkrun.
parkrun is made possible by our amazing volunteers who each week help to guide us around the course, ensure that our times are taken, our positions and times are recorded against our names, that nobody comes last as the tail walker always walks at the back and of course, and that there is photo evidence that we actually did do parkrun. This week our hi vis heroes were
Michelle Carter, Riley Ferguson, Melanie Ryding, Ruth Prattley, Tobias Prattley, Marcia Ferguson, Liz Henry, Amy Iversen, Grant Baker, Cheryl Dahms, Regan Prattley, Bruce Hartley, Amiee Withington and Aria Ferguson.
We always need people to volunteer, it is a great way to give back to parkrun, cheer on your fellow runners and walkers and you get a free coffee. Just email firstname.lastname@example.org to put yourself down as a volunteer one week.
Congratulations to our first placer Aidan McAra who also got a PB today of 17:20. Also to our first female home was Debbie Telfer for a time of 24:49.
Five people received PBs today, they were: Aidan McAra, Pippa Brown, Donald Wang, Mitchell Powell, and Victoria Powell.
We had one overseas visitor to our parkrun today, Gilly Cross, who is visiting from London. This was Gillys first parkrun in 18 months due to the UK being in lockdown. It was also her 50th Parkrun today so congratulations to Gilly and what a great feeling it must have been to be running in parkrun again.
Smile of the day also goes to Denise Hare. Denise has had a few enforced weeks off parkrun, but yesterday was given the all clear to return. Lovely to have you back at parkrun Denise. It was very emotional at the finish line! We are so proud of you for completing parkrun today!!
