Invercargill parkrun Event number 162 17th July 2021

sum

We ran a slightly different course this week because of some scheduled tree felling in the park. We are usually lucky to have good trails to run on, but the detour had us running on grass for some of the second km.  It made for a slightly different feel today!

Thanks to everyone for embracing the course detour this week.  We should be back to the usual course next week, but will update via Facebook during the week if this is to change.

Word from the course:

Mackenzie Henry:  "Even though parkrun involves getting up early when you might not want to its worth coming to.  Today I was barcode scanner and I think it is probably one of my favourite volunteer roles.  I liked welcoming people to the finish line and seeing position they got.  I liked saying "wow Token 54 well done!"

Reasons I like parkrun:  It is good to get you fit, and people cheer you on a lot.  I like the hot chocolate at The Cheeky Llama Cafe afterwards too!

What to do when it feels tough? : When its tough, don't tell yourself to try harder, tell yourself to try easier, and relax."

Mackenzie was one of 13 children on the course volunteering today.
