Flaxmere parkrun report Event #80, 24th April, 2021
Written by Gretchen Stone
It was such a perfect autumn morning for our 80th Flaxmere parkrun on Saturday. Clear and crisp with the promise of a day of sunshine ahead. It’s hard to think of a happier way to start the day (and the long weekend) than 5 kilometres of walking or running in the local park with friends.
A special shout out to the 13 walkers and runners who were first timers at the parkrun on Saturday. Great work getting out there and we look forward to many more adventures in the park with you all.
As always, thank you so much to our wonderful volunteers who make the event possible - Nneka OKONTA • Richard MILLS • Wendy APPERLEY • Cameron APPERLEY • Melissa THORBURN • Amber THORBURN • Gretchen STONE • James RAINGER • Nikola BASS. Special thanks to James Rainger for the impromptu haka in lieu of a bell at the 4 km mark.
Well done to all of you clever people who recorded a personal best time this week. Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Flaxmere parkrun Results Page.
Very much looking forward to seeing you all again next Saturday. And finally, here’s some running motivation to enjoy.
Sometimes you need to run (or walk); To grab your trainers, your vest; To leave the emails, the text; What’s been before, What’s happening next; Sometimes you need the pavement; The park, the drizzle, the rain; The sweat, the mud; The wind and the pain; Sometimes you need to run; Not for a purpose or a goal; But for the sound of your steps; Re-charging your soul.
