Dunedin parkrun celebrates our 2nd Birthday with record attendance.

Dunedin had its 2nd Birthday on the 9th January, another of our many recent celebrations over the festive season. There was a lot to celebrate with our points table competition winners being announced, there has been a fierce competition this year to fight for the top spots! Jonah Smith earned the most points on the mens table with 3992 points, with 32 runs and 3 times volunteering. And Jonah's Mum, Nancy, took out the womens competition with a whopping 4061 points from 44 runs and 3 times volunteering. Nancy had a double celebration this week as she also had her 50th parkrun to join our ever growing group of regular supporters. Well done and Jonah and Nancy!

For our special day we all indulged in the most delicious carrot cake made by Jules at the Croque-o-dile cafe, thank you Jules. Also thank you to New Zealand Home Loans for supporting us on our birthday celebrations. Lucky it was such a giant cake too as we had record numbers with 91 people attending this day to enjoy it! It was great to host parkrun tourists from New Castle and further abroad for the days events too.

We have wonderful supporters at our parkrun, and we are very appreciative of all the volunteers that make it possible. Tania Hollis has been doing a fabulous job of keeping us afloat and ensuring all the behind the scenes work is maintained, thank you Tania (with the help of son, Jack!), for all your hard work and time, you are our parkrun STAR!!

We are all enjoying the summer running through the glorious Botanical Gardens, long may it continue.

Happy parkrunning everybody.
