Run Report 15 May 2021

Barry Curtis parkrun
Event number 393
15th May 2021

This week 147 people ran, jogged and walked Barry Curtis parkrun. Conditions were pretty slushy underfoot, however 14 people still managed to achieve Personal Bests. Congratulations to you all on your fine achievement. Special mention to our junior PBers; Luca, Lihini, Siyumi, and Jonty.

Today we had three first timers, two of whom completed their very first parkrun. It’s the first step on your parkrun journey, and we hope that you enjoyed it enough to come back again.

We welcomed visitors from Coromandel and Sydney today. One of our visitors completed number 4 on her parkrun p-index this morning, so she was pretty happy.

As usual, our event wouldn’t happen without the help of all of our volunteers. We really do appreciate the help we receive from you all:

Richard BOWERS • Jeremy CROUCHER • Peter ROUT • Karen ROUT • Grant LINCOLN • Ray FREEMAN • Ellie WICHMAN • Gareth JESS • Ronald LOBJOIT • Keegan KOKKE • Maria SHALLARD • Caitlin SHALLARD • Rebekah SHALLARD • Siapo AUVAE • Gail FLEMING • Delwyn SMEDLEY • Sarah BRYANT

If you’ve never volunteered before, give it a go. As Ray likes to say, it makes you feel all ‘warm and fluffy’ when you volunteer. Please email barrycurtis@parkrun.com if you’d like more information or to put you name on the roster. Full training will be given.

Congratulations to the following people who achieved milestones today: Libby (10), Gabrielle (10), Anna (100) and Karen (150).  Congratulations to Ray and Ellie on your coffee vouchers for helping with volunteering and also Dawn who received one for being the only person attending today who was there on the very first parkrun at Barry Curtis Park.

Speaking of which, next Saturday is our 8th birthday. Come along and help us celebrate. There will be cake, and we’ll also have our sponsors, The Athlete’s Foot, coming along for the morning. They’re going to be offering great advice and also the chance for a few people to do a Wear Test on some Brooks Adrenaline and Brooks Ghost shoes. See our Facebook page for more details.

Next Saturday is also the 22nd of the month. It’s become a bit of a parkrun tradition that if a parkrun falls on the 22nd (or two, two) then some people like to wear tutus for the event. Tutus and birthday celebrations in one day – what a great day to come along!
