Although we are moving further into winter, we were surprisingly greeted with a pleasant, mild Saturday morning, meaning we could remove numerous outer layers more easily than last Saturday! Even with the warmer morning, there was a smaller turnout than usual, with just 91 participants, plus the ever-important volunteer crew!
Congratulations to Hannah LLOYD who ran her 100th parkrun today! Hannah has shared her 100 events among Anderson, Flaxmere and Auckland venues, and has visited 15 different parkrun venues in total – 14 in NZ and 1 in Australia. Well done Hannah, you are well on the way to visiting all NZ parkruns!
We welcomed just one first-time visitor to Anderson this morning – Allan BECK from Invercargill, who had to remember we started at 8am, rather than the 9am start they have in Invercargill in the winter months!
New PBs were achieved by Michael PECK, David WAIN, Daniel SPARLING, Craig SMITH, Hayden SMITH, Peter WALL, Barbara EDMEAD, Andrea WILLIAMS, Leon SATTLER, Murray DEANS, Andrene LOW and Miriam BRADY. Murray, Andrene and Miriam all completed their first parkrun last week at Anderson, so great to see them back again.
The first three men to finish today were Chey DEARING (17:25), Michael PECK (18:59) and Tomas BRIDGEMAN (19:14). Congratulations to Chey as he achieved his best age grading today – 84.02%!
The first three ladies over the line were Nicole SATTLER (23:46), Kathryn SILLER (24:05) and Olivia FIELD (26:21). This was the first time that Olivia has featured in the top three female finishers.
As always, our volunteers are key to running a successful parkrun, so a big shout-out and thanks to Shayne CRABTREE (Run Director), Megan BIGG, Julie CUMMINS, Peter EDMEAD, Sally HOULISTON, Steve HOULISTON, Anna JACKSON, Maria MCLEOD, Perry NEWBURN, Nneka OKONTA and John RHODES. We are always on the lookout for volunteers to share the load, so why not give it a try!
