Event number 302
21st April 2018
Today was lovely running weather and it certainly brought a lot of runners and walkers out to enjoy it! So many visitors from Australia, South Africa, Japan and Germany. We also had a contingent from Western Springs parkrun join us today due to the unfortunate second cancellation of that event - lovely to have you all though!
Congratulations to Hamish Thomson who received his Junior 10 certificate, he ran his 11th parkrun today and Marcia who has now volunteered for over 25 times! Daniel Jones ran his 50th parkrun today - congratulations!
Actually out of our volunteers today there were four more who are well over 25 times volunteering - Samantha, Cerise, Larry and Denise! Many thanks for always pitching in when needed, but of course thank you to all our volunteers without whom parkrun couldn't happen every Saturday.
Today there was an 'all girl' power team at the finish line and regrettably the pictures that were taken are all blurry! Sorry girls
Among the visitors today was Martin O'Sullivan (274 runs), long time parkrunner from Lower Hutt, with his sons - "Early morning drive from Turangi to parkrun Cornwall Park, warm morning in the City of Sails and great turnout. James completed his 15th different NZ course on run 88 and Trent 13th different course on run 86. Tauranga inaugural next weekend". All the best for that one Martin!
Looking forward to seeing most of you again next parkrunday and have a good week in between!
This week 318 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 56 were first timers and 33 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 22 different clubs took part.
The event was made possible by 13 volunteers:
Samantha PARKINSON • Lian DE CHARMOY • Denise POELIJOE • Noel DE CHARMOY • Cerise ALDERSON • Jeanne VAN DER MERWE • Margie PEAT • Linda DOUGHTY • Tony COOMBE • Kara SMITH • Lacey THOMPSON • Nick SOMERVILLE • Larry MCDERMOTT
Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Cornwall parkrun Results Page.
parkrun cannot operate without the assistance of volunteers. We encourage parkrunners to volunteer three times a year, of course more if you'd like! If you're injured and need a rest from running, we would welcome your help. Go onto the Cornwall parkrun webpage and email firstname.lastname@example.org to register your availability and which Saturday you can volunteer.
If you would like to run and volunteer you can do an earlier ‘freedom’ run or even write the run report for our website! Anyone wishing to volunteer their talents as a photographer is most welcome too.
