Cornwall parkrun
Event number 298
17th March 2018

This week 233 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 24 were first timers and 43 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 17 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 14 volunteers:

Lian DE CHARMOY • Caitlin DE CHARMOY • Denise POELIJOE • Cerise ALDERSON • Marcia SOANES • Laurie WILSON • Chris BARTON • Norah ANDERSON • Steve DOUGHTY • Linda DOUGHTY • Paul COLGRAVE • Larry MCDERMOTT • Mike MCMILLAN • Sage CARRUTHERS

Thank you and welcome to all our new parkrunners who came along today on St. Patrick's Day. Special welcome to the new juniors Hayden and Liam and always lovely to have visitors from around the world and New Zealand!

This morning our very own Ruth Taylor ran her 100th parkrun - well done Ruth what an amazing accomplishment and with a PB too!  A special thank you for bringing cake along as well, which was enjoyed by all!

Also reaching her 100th milestone today was junior Molly Edmonds, another brilliant effort from this sporty family! Congratulations to Gary Brooking who ran his 50th today as well!

Today we farewell dear Geoff Jackson (VM84-90)  who is heading home to England and his home parkrun in Didcot. Geoff will run his 250th parkrun in the English summer, so we’ll look out for a picture of him on his special day! We will however look forward to welcoming Geoff back to Cornwall parkrun in a few years time – “all going well” as Geoff says.

See you all again next parkrunday!

Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Cornwall parkrun Results Page.

Volunteering

parkrun cannot operate without the assistance of volunteers. We encourage parkrunners to volunteer three times a year, of course more if you'd like! If you're injured and need a rest from running, we would welcome your help. Go onto the Cornwall parkrun webpage and email cornwallhelpers@parkrun.com  to register your availability and which Saturday you can volunteer.

If you would like to run and volunteer you can do an earlier ‘freedom’ run or even write the run report for our website! Anyone wishing to volunteer their talents as a photographer is most welcome too.

The female record is held by Becky WADE who recorded a time of 17:44 on 2nd March 2013 (event number 32).

The male record is held by Jonathan JACKSON who recorded a time of 15:49 on 10th December 2016 (event number 230).
The Age Grade course record is held by Margie PEAT who recorded 90.16% (21:31) on 24th February 2018 (event number 295).

Cornwall parkrun started on 28th July 2012. Since then 5,862 participants have completed 44,215 parkruns covering a total distance of 221,075 km, including 7,009 new Personal Bests.
